An open lecture was organized for the World Day of Rare Diseases
On the occasion of the World Day of Rare (Orphan) Diseases, which is celebrated all over the world on February 29, for the second-year students of the "Medical business" (9) A,B,V an open lecture "Orphan diseases are the challenge of hereditary pathology" was organized. It was read by Svitlana Bukhalska, Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, professor of the Department of Fundamental Disciplines of the Rivne Medical Academy.
During the lecture, students and teachers who also joined the event were told about the essence of the concept of orphan diseases, the causes and conditions of their occurrence, and discussed modern approaches to the treatment and adaptation of people with such diseases to life. Separately, they focused on the experience of the Rivne region in the treatment of such genetic diseases.
The easy, understandable manner of presenting information, as well as specific examples from Ukrainian medical practice, did not leave the listeners indifferent. It is worth adding that student groups also held hours of communication with the participation of a family doctor, head of outpatient clinic number 5 Halyna Furyk. Such events highlight the importance of professionally oriented training and education of medical students.
