Mental health is also part of the pharmacist's profession
May is considered Mental Health Awareness Month all over the world and in Ukraine. The day before, an educational event on the topic "Mental health of the future pharmacist: stress resistance and professional communication in the pharmacy" was held at the Rivne Medical Academy for the second-year students of the department “Pharmacy”, groups A and B (11).
Together with teachers Oksana Marchuk and Kateryna Derhunova, the students talked about what is really behind the profession of a pharmacist - not only knowledge of drugs, but also the ability to work with people, stay calm and not burn out.
The format was as lively as possible: students prepared their own presentations in which they shared their vision of mental health, ways to support and restore it. They discussed how to avoid emotional burnout while studying, why it is important to take care of yourself now, and not "after graduation".
Separately, an important topic was raised - the danger of using sedatives without a doctor's prescription and the responsibility of the pharmacist in such situations.
This topic is especially current before the exam period, when the stress level increases and the workload becomes as intense as possible. It is during such periods that it is important to be able to support yourself, maintain internal balance and not forget about your own mental health.
