INSPIRING MEETING FOR VOLUNTEER DAY
People who change the world with their daily actions live next to us. Our first-year students of the specialty "Preventive Dentistry" and teacher Tamara Duzhych had the opportunity to see this.
They were inspired by volunteers – a mother and a daughter. Natalia and Olha Kononenko are two strong women from Dniprorudne who know what it means to help despite fear, danger and exhaustion.
Since October 2022, Rivne has become their home. But before that, there were long months of life, struggle and helping people in their hometown, which was under occupation. Even then, amidst chaos and uncertainty, they continued to volunteer: they searched for and packed vital medicines and products, organized transfers, coordinated assistance.
Already in Rivne, they realized how dangerous all this work was. But they simply could not do otherwise: the desire to support people was stronger than fear.
Today, women continue their work, helping those in need. Special attention is paid to children from temporarily occupied territories.
The students heard stories about what life was like under occupation, what it means to lose a home but not lose strength. And most importantly, they understood that volunteering can be different, but there are always many opportunities to help. And young people have enormous potential.
We thank Ms. Olha and Ms. Natalia for their sincerity, courage, and inspiration.
