Memory that teaches and shapes future doctors

The day before, an important event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster — one of the most tragic pages of our history — was held at the Rivne Medical Academy.

The special guest of the meeting was a doctor, liquidator of the consequences of the Chornobyl accident, and our former teacher, Oleksandr Litvinchuk. His story is not just facts, but vivid memories of events that changed the lives of thousands of people.

The event was organized by the deputy director of the Professional medical college, Svitlana Bukhalska. The meeting was joined by teachers and students of the “Medical Business” department, for whom this conversation became especially valuable.

During the meeting, they talked about the course of events after the accident, the medical consequences of the disaster, the impact of radiation on the human body, and the challenges that doctors had to face at that time.

It was not just a lecture — it was an experience that cannot be read in textbooks. And it is precisely such meetings that form an understanding of the medical profession.

The topic was also continued during thematic information sessions in student groups, which included viewing a documentary chronicle of those events.
