Topical challenges and prospects for training physical therapy specialists
On March 24, 2026, a meeting of the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy with stakeholders took place. The event was organized to discuss modern approaches to training future specialists, improving the quality of the educational process, and strengthening interaction between educational institutions and employers.
The meeting was attended by leading scientists, representatives of the educational environment and the practical sphere of rehabilitation, in particular:
• Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy Korobko Larysa Rostyslavivna;
• Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy of Volyn National University after Lesia Ukrainka Andriichuk Olha Yaroslavivna;
• Founder and Director of "Olexandrova Rehabilitation Clinic" Fedorchuk Pavlo Oleksandrovych;
• Representatives of the "Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital" - Kaspryshen Iryna Oleksandrivna and Kukharevych Ruslana Valentynivna;
• Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Health Care and Head of the Department of Therapy and Rehabilitation of the National University of Water and Environmental Management, Hryhus Ihor Mykhailovych.
During the event, key issues were considered:
• interdisciplinary and interuniversity cooperation;
• interaction of educational institutions with the private and public sectors;
• employers' requirements for graduates;
• features of training specialists in the face of modern challenges, in particular in the field of military rehabilitation;
• prospects for scientific development and entry into postgraduate study.
During the active discussion, the participants outlined the main areas of improving educational programs, increasing the practical training of students, and expanding cooperation opportunities.
Based on the results of the meeting, recommendations were formed for the further development of partnerships between educational institutions and employers, as well as improving the training of future physical therapy specialists.
