To the 81st anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars

The 18th of May in Ukraine is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar people. On this day, we remember the tragic events of 1944, when hundreds of thousands of Crimean Tatars were forcibly deported from their native land. This is one of the most painful pages in the history of Ukraine, which we must know, understand and pass on.

The Rivne Medical Academy held information sessions for students on this topic. An educational event dedicated to this memorable date was also held. It was conducted by history teacher Vasyl Kolinchuk together with 1st year students of the “Medical business” department, Group B (9).

The participants of the event spoke about the historical circumstances of the deportation, the consequences for the Crimean Tatar people, read the memoirs of eyewitnesses of these events, and did not ignore the modern challenges faced by the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.

A harmonious artistic chord was formed by the viewing of excerpts from the film about the deportation of the Crimean Tatars "Haitarma" by Artem Seitablaev and the victorious performance of our Jamala with a composition on the same theme at the Eurovision Song Contest.

We believe that memory is also a form of resistance. And our duty is not to let these pages be forgotten so that such tragedies never happen again.
