Every year on the last day of February, the world celebrates Rare Disease Day. This date is designed to draw attention to people living with diagnoses that occur infrequently, but require systemic medical and social support. Despite the low prevalence of each individual disease, in total they affect millions of patients in different countries.

Dedicated to World Day of Orphan Diseases, the teacher Anna Serheieva, together with 2nd year students of group A (9) of “Nursing” department, held an open educational session.

The importance of timely diagnosis and support for patients and their families were discussed at the session. The students actively discussed how future doctors can help people with such diagnoses, and demonstrated their knowledge of modern approaches to care.

The practical part included examples of care and interaction with patients, which helps to better understand the complexities of life with orphan diseases.
