It is a day that serves as a reminder to all progressive humanity that the prevalence of the disease is steadily increasing.
The Department of Medical and Preventive Disciplines and Laboratory Diagnostics and the Department of Postgraduate Education of Junior Medical and Pharmaceutical Specialists held an open online class for students of the thematic improvement cycles, students, and teachers of "Rivne Medical Academy" on the topic: "Diabetes in the practice of primary care medical workers".
The lecture discussed the relevance of the problem, risk factors, main symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the disease. Emphasis was placed on type II diabetes and the role of primary health care workers, in particular paramedics and outpatient nurses. The attendees were introduced to interesting facts and news regarding this issue.
The class was held in an interactive form. The participants of the meeting were actively involved in the process. During the lecture, the audience was offered a test to identify their own risk of developing diabetes, common myths about nutrition, physical activity, and complications of the disease were disproved.
The lecture was organized, conducted and moderated by the associate professor of the Department of medical and preventive disciplines and laboratory diagnostics, PhD, associate professor Olena Hashynska and the head of the Department of postgraduate education of junior medical and pharmaceutical specialists, senior teacher of the Department of medical and preventive disciplines and laboratory diagnostics Olena Horska.
