Rivne Medical Academy begins a new academic year!
On August 31, a meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Rivne Medical Academy, which was dedicated to discussing the features of organizing the educational process, planning work and outlining tasks for the new academic year.
Key issues and decisions on the agenda:
Strategic management of education quality (speakers: R. SHUSTYK, rector of the Academy, I. KHMELIAR, head of the educational and methodological department): Members of the Academic Council discussed and approved the Development Program for 2027. The main guideline of the institution is the transition from formal fulfillment of requirements to measurable results. A system of key performance indicators (KPI) for departments has been introduced, which is based on student success and comprehensive preparation for the licensing exams "STEP-1" and "SSQE" (Single State Qualifying Exam).
Preparation for accreditations of National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (speakers: L. KOROBKO, Dean of the Faculty, V. BABIAK, Vice-Rector): Temporary expert commissions (working groups) have been created to prepare information on self-assessment of educational programs. Particular attention is paid to evidence-based, student-centeredness and the involvement of practicing doctors (stakeholders) in reviewing syllabuses.
Overcoming educational losses during the war period (speakers: D. LYSYTSIA, Director of the Professional College, L. KOROBKO, Dean of the Faculty, I. KHMELIAR, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department): The System for Monitoring and Eliminating Knowledge Gaps has been approved. In early September, teachers will conduct a diagnosis of students' knowledge, after which additional compensatory classes and training in simulation classes will be organized to practice practical medical skills. Digital feedback channels ("online trust boxes") have been strengthened to quickly respond to student inquiries.
Safety — priority №1 (speaker: R. SHUSTYK, rector of the Academy): The issue of the state of labor protection and civil defense was heard in a separate block. The Academic Council approved the schedules of mandatory safety briefings and training on evacuation to certified shelters during air alarms.
"Medical education has no right to theorize or stagnate. Each of our decisions — from updating the staffing of departments to approving new internal Regulations — is subordinated to a single goal: a graduate of the Rivne Medical Academy must be a competitive, highly qualified specialist, ready to save lives from the first day of his work,” said the Chairman of the Academic Council Vitalii UNDIR.
The Rector of the Academy, Roman SHUSTYK, emphad that the Academy’s staff is ready for the consistent and responsible implementation of the defined tasks and priority areas of activity. Despite the challenges and difficult conditions of wartime, it continues to ensure the proper quality of the educational process, develop scientific activity, implement modern approaches to training specialists, and strengthen its personnel and scientific and educational potential.
Dmytro Leonidovych (executive secretary of the admissions committee) noted that this year’s campaign showed that the Rivne Medical Academy remains the undisputed leader of medical education in the region. The admissions committee worked as a single, high-tech and client-oriented mechanism. Thanks to the clear digitalization of processes, the provision of operational consultations in offline and online modes, we managed to attract motivated, talented young people. We fully fulfilled the volumes of the state and regional order, and also recorded high demand for training at the expense of individuals and legal entities at all levels - from a professional junior bachelor's to a master's degree.
Oksana SHTRIMAITIS emphad that an effective admissions committee is not only work in July and August. It is the result of end-to-end career guidance throughout the year. We managed to present our advantages qualitatively. The coordinated work of scientific and pedagogical workers, education seekers and the entire team is the key to the further development of the Academy and the effective implementation of the mission and strategy of the institution. Resilience, professional stability and dedication to their work once again testify to the readiness of the team to overcome difficulties and work for the future of Ukraine.
